Sam Reed is a writer, director and animator from Melbourne, Australia. He started his career producing award-winning animations with his brother, Josh, and friend, Nigel Christensen, for clients as diverse as MTV, the ABC and McDonald’s. Sam has worked in Australia, Vietnam and the USA. In 2009 Sam co-wrote and directed the Web series, Larry Labrat, which won an Honorable Mention at the Webby Awards in New York. More recently Sam has moved into documentaries, directing Wagner’s Ring – A Tale Told in Music, a four-episode series about Richard Wagner’s epic Ring Cycle.
Sam’s hobbies include macramé and bee-keeping. He has a hive in his backyard, though as yet it has failed to produce any honey. His neighbours insist it’s a wasps’ nest, but Sam refuses to believe them. They are threatening to call an exterminator, but fear not, Sam will do whatever it takes to save his beloved bees.
